THE BURGUET FAMILY

The Burguet Family is the story of a shared passion, proudly passed down. Master guitar maker Amalio Burguet not only dedicated his life to perfecting the art of the Spanish guitar, but also instilled that love for the shape in his children, Vanessa Burguet and Damián Burguet.
Today, Vanessa and Damián continue the family legacy with the same respect for tradition, meticulous craftsmanship, and the constant pursuit of sonic excellence. Each guitar born in the workshop is a reflection of a living heritage, where experience, sensitivity, dedication, and commitment come together to keep the essence of Amalio Burguet guitars intact.

AMALIO BURGUET

A Life Dedicated to the Spanish Guitar

Amalio Burguet, a renowned guitar maker in the Valencian tradition, has dedicated over 50 years exclusively to the handcrafted production of classical and flamenco guitars. His family workshop in Catarroja (Valencia, Spain) has become a benchmark for combining exceptional quality, tradition, and meticulous attention to detail.

Born in 1951 in Catarroja, a small town near Valencia, he displayed a remarkable talent for guitar making from a young age. He worked in various workshops in the area, where he acquired a deep understanding of traditional craftsmanship. In 1966, at just 15 years old, he crafted his first guitar, marking the beginning of his career as a guitar maker.

After years of learning and honing his shape, in 1984 he fulfilled his dream: opening his own workshop in Catarroja. There, he applied everything he had learned to create 100% handcrafted, innovative, and high-quality guitars, using select woods with long drying periods (a minimum of 20 years), special varnishes, advanced glues, and meticulous attention to every detail.

Over time, the business has become a family project. His children, Vanessa Burguet and Damián Burguet, joined their father on this beautiful and artisanal path, continuing and enriching Amalio’s legacy, guaranteeing the brand’s continuity with the same passion and exacting standards.

One family, with the same goal: the handcrafted guitar.

Amalio Burguet’s hands transform wood into pure art. More than three decades of knowledge put into practice. Knowledge he has passed on to his children in his own workshop, which once became a family business. His children, Vanessa and Damián, complete the circle. Both are worthy heirs to Amalio’s knowledge and passion, a perfect team in the tireless pursuit of crafting the Spanish guitar.

“Amalio Burguet’s passion for the Spanish guitar is reflected in every instrument, where tradition, dedication, and soul unite to create a unique sound.”

DAMIÁN BURGUET

Damián Burguet is the son of Amalio Burguet. He joined the guitar workshop after his sister Vanessa Burguet. Damián has inherited the passion and knowledge of his father, who founded the workshop in Catarroja (Valencia) in 1984 after decades of experience dating back to 1966. From a young age, Damián trained in the family workshop, learning traditional handcrafting techniques, the meticulous treatment of fine woods, and the secrets to achieving a high-quality sound. Today, he is an integral part of the family business alongside his father, Amalio, and his sister, Vanessa Burguet. This transition has transformed the workshop into a family business committed to excellence, where Damián represents the new generation that combines tradition with his own unique style.

Damián is recognized as a guitar maker for his own creations, with a distinctive style marked by his strong personality in design and aesthetics. Among his notable contributions are:

Modelo Unico: A concert-level guitar, designed and crafted by Damián Burguet. It represents his personal vision, with select woods such as a cedar or spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, an African ebony fingerboard, and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. It is a high-end instrument with great projection and a unique character.

And many other special and professional-level models, to which he dedicates all his passion, contributing meticulous detail, sound, and exhaustive work from the selection of the woods to the internal assembly of the tops.

Damián continues to evolve, reflecting the family tradition of transforming wood into pure art. His work ensures the continuity of a Valencian tradition of more than 50 years, combining heritage with innovation and tradition.
