WHAT TYPE OF SOUND BOARD

On our Amalio Burguet classical guitars, you can choose between two fine woods for the top: cedar or German spruce. Both offer exceptional sound, but each has its own distinct character. Here we explain the key differences so you can choose the one that best suits your playing style and musical taste.
CEDRO
Cedar Top

Sound: warm, round, deep, and powerful, it offers a sweet, velvety, and very full tone from the very first note. The bass is generous and full, the mids are very present, and the treble is smooth and rounded. It has a quick response and is very expressive. Ideal if you’re looking for warmth and comfort from day one.

Regarding its longevity, cedar delivers almost its full potential from the start and maintains a very stable sound over time.

Spruce Top

Sound: Bright, sweet, clear, and rich in harmonics, it stands out for its defined attack, greater projection, and exceptional clarity in the treble. It has more brilliance and “crystalline clarity,” with a beautiful balance across all frequencies.

This wood requires a little more aging (spruce guitars tend to gain body and depth over the years). It is more sensitive to dynamics and rewards precise playing.

Its evolution improves noticeably over time, gaining warmth and volume.

Which is better for you?
  • Choose cedar if you prefer a warm, round, and powerful sound from day one, with deep bass and a very musical and inviting feel.
  • Choose spruce if you are looking for brightness, clarity, rich harmonics, and a guitar that evolves into an even more refined and projected sound over the years.

At Amalio Burguet, both options are shaped with the same high-quality workmanship and select woods, so the main difference lies in the tonal character that best suits your musical personality.
